Senators Fighting to Preserve Net Neutrality

May 9, 2014 By JasonS

May 9, 2014. Like we did in the fight over SOPA, it is time to get involved and protect Net Neutrality. Today a great group of 11 Senators wrote to FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler urging him to avoid the “pay-to-play” fiasco that is potentially looming and could eviscerate Net Neutrality. The letter which you can find here, also urges the FCC to, in essence, adopt a Title II approach for the Rules. This would strengthen the FCC’s ability to protect the Open Internet and satisfy the Courts. As we previously reported, there is a need to reclassify Broadband under Title II protection – treat it like a common carrier and keep the lines open. We cannot afford to allow “toll lanes” on the Internet.

Take the time and also thank the following United States Senators for standing up for our Internet:

Ron Wyden http://www.wyden.senate.gov/contact/

Charles E. Schumer http://www.schumer.senate.gov/Contact/contact_chuck.cfm

Elizabeth Warren www.warren.senate.gov/?p=email_senator

Bernard Sanders http://www.sanders.senate.gov/contact/

Al Franken http://www.franken.senate.gov/?p=contact

Kirsten E. Gillibrand http://www.gillibrand.senate.gov/contact/

Edward J. Markey http://www.markey.senate.gov/contact

Jeff Merkley http://www.merkley.senate.gov/contact/

Cory Booker http://www.booker.senate.gov/?p=contact

Richard Blumenthal https://www.blumenthal.senate.gov/contact/

Barbara Boxer http://www.boxer.senate.gov/en/contact/

And if you care about the Internet, reach out to your Senator or Representative and let them know how you feel.
