Dave Evanson (Sedo) Gives Some Insight on BizJournals.com

March 26, 2015 By Raymond Hackney

Sedo got a lengthy mention on the Columbus edition of BizJournals.com. It seems that a business owner named Janet Miller will be closing her recruitment firm. Janet registered TechnicalJobs.com back in 1996.

The buzzwords in her domain name were invaluable with search-engine optimization. Miller said she once added up her earnings over a two-year period that came from the clients who found her via the web, and it amounted to around $200,000.

Janet has hired a domain broker and is looking for $75,000.

The author reached out to Dave Evanson the super star Sedo domain broker and he gave his insight.

From the article:

A $3 billion market

It’s a marketplace most people don’t even think about, but as much as $3 billion is spent every year on after-market domain names (websites that someone already owns), according to Dave Evanson, one of the industry’s top domain brokers.

So we asked Evanson: What is it about technicaljobs.com that makes it five-figure valuable?

“This one would be a premium because it has two very, very key words in it: ‘technical’ and ‘jobs,'” said Evanson, a senior broker for Sedo, a domain name and website marketplace that facilitates thousands of transactions every month. “You put those two together and you have a valuable domain name.”

The article goes on to detail what the broker Janet hired recommended for her to do. Read the full article on BizJournals.com
