Amazon Registers AmazonOpportunity.com – Could it be for a Crowd Funding Platform ?

March 22, 2015 By Raymond Hackney

Amazon registered the domain name AmazonOpportunity.com on Friday, the name had been registered in the past a couple times. The name was registered back in 2007 and owned for a number of years by a registrant in New Hampshire. They dropped the name and it was later picked up by someone in the U.K. who recently dropped the domain.

Now Amazon owns it, this could be the perfect name for the crowd funding platform that was hinted at by Hacked.com.

Back in January they published an article:

One listing for a senior marketing manager asks, “Are you inspired by inventors who develop and launch new products? Do you want to market the world’s best end-to-end platform for startups? Do you see the opportunity to connect these entrepreneurs with Amazon’s hundreds of millions of customers through creative and strategic marketing?”

Sources say this move could be connected to another recent initiative the company has been pursuing. Amazon has been attempting to build relationships with startup hardware and electronic companies. Their goal has been to convince these young companies to grow their business by utilizing the large site as the main sales channel.
