_module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; link_text_color=&#8221;#005346&#8243; header_3_font=&#8221;|700|||||||&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>If you are or are planning to be a mortgage industry professional, you need to take action to ensure your licensure.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 data-fontsize=\"16\" data-lineheight=\"30.08px\" class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\">Pre-licensure Education<\/h3>\n<p>The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (SAFE Act) requires that state-licensed mortgage loan originators (MLOs) complete 20 hours of pre-licensure education. Many states require additional state law education, as well. View the current<a href=\"http:\/\/mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org\/courseprovider\/Course%20Provider%20Resources\/State%20Specific%20Education%20Requirements.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span>\u00a0<\/span>state-specific requirement chart<\/a>\u00a0(PDF).<\/p>\n<p>All MLO\u2019s must also pass the\u00a0SAFE\u00a0Mortgage Loan Originator Test. \u00a0A score of 75% or higher is needed to meet this requirement. If you do not pass, you must wait 30 days before retaking the exam.\u00a0 After three failed attempts, a 180 day wait period is required. Many states require additional hours of state law to be part of or in addition to this requirement.
